A light and funny comedy with elements of criticism of populist politics and the pompous understanding of history

I saw poor ratings of "Volta", but I wanted to watch this film because the action takes place in Lublin, where I live and with which I feel attached. Maybe I'm not entirely objective about this, but the movie pleasantly surprised me not only as a promotion for my town. From the beginning I didn't take the crime plot seriously, and I liked the film as a light comedy that made me laugh in many places (the funniest for me was the scene where the monks robbed the coffin of King Casimir the Great). Another advantage of the film for me was the participation of many popular actors and other figures from Polish public life whom I like (like Joanna Szczepkowska and Monika Olejnik). "Volta" was also filmed during the rule of the populist PiS party and very accurately ridiculed elements of populist politics and the pompous approach to Polish history and tradition. It was done in a light and humorous way, without offending anyone. I am a fan of "Monty Python", and compared to this, "Volta" is rather a light satire. I also think that Polish society sometimes needs to see itself in a distorting mirror, so the film is more than just a funny, light, and pointless comedy.
