Delightful Aussie movie of two brothers on a journey

This a lovely relaxing afternoon film of two brothers on a 500 mile journey to Melbourne on foot in order to realize their dream and make their fortune, at least make a living - but things don't turn out as expected along the way. the film explores conflict guilt and brotherhood. There are no twists and the story is sort of predictable but there is nothing heavy sexually or violence wise in the movie and the whole thing is completely watchable. The director Matthew Holmes plays one of the brothers Thomas (the other one is William or Bill. The film is a couple of years old now but I hadn't heard of it and I found it to be extremely entertaining, OK slow placed but that went along with the mood of the story.

Mateship at its best

Avoided watching this movie for some time on the basis it will just be another poorly acted Australian soap. Came away thinking this is one of the best movies I have seen.It is hard to believe that this great movie was made without external financial support and instead relied on the assistance of 300 volunteers and community organizations including vintage car clubs. All of the actors provided believable presentations of their characters. Just came across as ordinary people living in the times of 1939.This movie not only confronts the issues that so many Australians faced during that period (1939) of the great depression but the settings in the towns, on the sheep stations and along the dusty roads give a real picture of what Australia was like at the time.Simple but poignant themes of mateship, young men growing up, following dreams and the truth of how significant people come in to and pass through lives often leaving the seed for further development.A story told that people of all ages can relate to.

Pleasantly surprised

The debut feature film from Matthew Holmes delivers a beautiful coming of age story that leaves you thinking of the decisions you make in your own journey.
