A great popcorn movie

This film is about a young Hollywood star going to a small town to live, in order to fight her alcohol addiction. The title "True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet" sounds already cheesy, and it is just that. Morgan Carter is cynical about everything in the small town, looking down on everything and everyone. She makes unreasonable demands, is spoiled and takes everything for granted. Yet, she is strangely adorable, keeping me interested throughout the movie. Her narrated thoughts inside her head are so funny! And - what a coincidence - she does look like Lindsay Lohan! "True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet" has all the elements of a fun popcorn movie. It is fun to watch, and is a cut above many other straight to TV movies.

Washed Up at Seventeen!!!

"True Confessions" was a heartfelt drama of a young reality television star who is transformed by wholesome American values in the heartland.

Reality tv star Morgan Carter has a meltdown and a drinking problem that threatens her career in Hollywood. Her mother and manager pack her off to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a rehabilitation stint in real life.

As if placed in a witness protection program, Morgan assumes the alias of Claudia Miller and resides with her Aunt Trudy. It is not boot camp, but closer to Our Town. In a funky house, Morgan adjusts to conventional life and attends Hillhaven High School where she is treated abominably as "the new girl."

But she makes good friends in Emily and her brother Eli, shops at a discount store, and attends the fair. The influence of the aunt is especially important. Trudy had a nasty divorce in which her husband ran away with the dog trainer who took the dog as well. Now, both Morgan and Trudy have a positive effect on one another as Trudy plans to apply for medical school and complete the degree she never finished.

There was a heart-warming and endearing quality to this film. The performances were great, and the niece and aunt actually resembled each other. From the red carpet to rehab, Morgan Carter finds herself taking a liking to the traditional values. By the end, she is enjoying the good things in life.
