Plot summary

Jerome and Kayla are excited to spend their first Christmas together as husband and wife. The only problem is that they’ve never celebrated Christmas without their respective families. This Christmas, instead of deciding on one event, they agree to attend two at the same time, to appease their families.

A Christmas Movie with Heart

The real strength of Too Many Christmases is how it captures the chaotic yet real side of family life during the holidays. Amid all the wild, zany moments with Jerome's family, the film still makes room for those more genuine, sometimes tough interactions that happen when family gets together.Jerome's family is portrayed with just the right amount of over-the-top energy, but it never feels too far-fetched. The crazy holiday traditions and hilarious mishaps are the kinds of things many of us can relate to when our own families get together. It's chaotic, funny, and totally real.But what really sets this movie apart is the emotional depth in Leelee's relationship with his grandfather. I was really touched by how Leelee stays true to himself, never backing down, even when there's tension with his grandfather. The way his grandfather eventually accepts Leelee for who he is adds a really heartfelt and powerful layer to the story, making it so much more than just a funny holiday flick.

This movie has all the ingredients to become a new Black holiday film classic. It's wild, chaotic, and downright hilarious - the perfect kind of mess we all need around the holidays. The movie captures the craziness of Christmas in a way that feels both familiar and fresh, with a great blend of humor and heart. But the real standout here is Juhahn Jones, who plays Lavar. He absolutely steals the show! His timing and energy had me in tears from laughing so hard.
