Plot summary

Azra is worlds apart from her conservative Muslim mother. When her father suddenly dies on a trip home to Pakistan, Azra finds herself on a Bollywood-inspired journey through memories, both real and imagined; from her mother’s youth in Karachi to her own coming- of-age in rural Canada.

Ambitious drama about a clash of generations and cultures

Heartfelt funny and visually striking

I loved this film. It kept me on my toes equal parts Lost In Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums and But I'm a Cheerleader and just a dash of everything everywhere all at once. This film will bend time and space and you will like it.The cast was great, dug the soundtrack. This was the kind of movie I wish existed when I was growing up, the world needs more films like this.You might cry. You will definitely laugh. Ever wanted to explore baliwood films in 3 dimensions? Want to explore queer characters without it being just about their gayness? This movie is family and culture and coming of age. Go see it!

Technicolor dancing and romance!

This movie was so wonderful to watch! I loved the bright colors. I loved the dancing. I loved the love story. I have a soft spot for immigrant stories.I saw the movie at the Milwaukee Film Festival. It was a spotlight presentation. We got to hear Director Fawzia Mirza and her partner/producer answer questions about the film. I could see how much heart they put into the film.The heroine was so unabashedly herself. She often clashed with her mother. She loved her dad so much. I enjoyed that we went back into the past to come back to the present. The film was an awesome rollercoaster ride. If you get a chance, please see this film.
