Plot summary

Six strangers find themselves trapped in a New York City subway by Mac, a mysterious man who claims to be a demon hunter. Insisting one of them is evil, he peeks into their souls discovering five eerie, supernatural tales: a desperate woman seeks help from a fortune teller, newlyweds discover a creature lurking outside their apartment, a young man visits an insane asylum, conjoined twins discover a wish-granting coin, and a man lusting over a co-worker discovers a magic potion shop. It's then up to Mac to solve the mystery and destroy the demon amongst them.

A Mysterious Stranger Stalks the Malevolent

A tall ominous figure with a wide-brimmed black hat, wearing a duster wouldn't get a second look, skulking around midtown after dark. But when the train you're on suddenly stops, and this mysterious figure tells you to recount the events of your day, so that he can peer inside your soul; it's guaranteed he's got your full attention. And it turns out you, and the four others aren't a random batch. You're there for a reason, and it's all by design. Oh, and if it turns out you're a demon-he's got nothing but ill intentions for you. Five unsettling tales as recounted by 5 strangers-this one's the classic horror anthology format, however Mac isn't just the wraparound story, he's also a supernatural detective, and discovering which one of them is the demon, is the mystery. "The Hunter's Anthology: The Demon Hunter", is a follow-up film to the 2021 series, "The Hunter's Anthology". If you've seen the first one, you know what to expect. If you haven't, chances are you're curious. The Hunter's Anthology tales can be addictive.

Good concept, mediocre production

The idea is great, if you like shows like Supernatural, Dead Boy Detectives, Lockwood etc. The acting isn't top notch, but considering it was a load of actors who don't have a lot of top level screen time to their names I thought it was passable. The production level was definitely low level, and that brought to light the other flaws.I really would have liked more episodes to see how they would work this concept beyond the confines of the tin can subway which served as the central location for the five episodes they did have. A bigger production company might be able to make this a really enjoyable show for the masses.

Not new just a format change

Same thing as the 2021 series. They just made it into a movie. I watched the preview on Prime's "new releases" and then looked at the date given as 2024. I knew I'd seen this before and it was good, to be honest. But how can you claim this is new when the only thing that's changed is the format? There's all these reviews praising the new indie film but it ain't new. At best it's a recycled film, at worst a rerun.The crazy part is this version got a better rating than the series. I really did enjoy the series but this is just plain lazy. What a shame. I was hoping it was new material. I'll wait.
