This was not good. No hunter goes bow hunting without at least a .357 or better pistol, there are many reasons for this. There are so many unbelievable things that occur or that people do deliberately. Also the kooky non boyfriend friend seems mentally unstable. He hunts the area frequently every week in that area but has never seen signs of these wolves before. He is just jerky and so is the fiance who has no experience at all. So they go out under armed and with no epirb type device or cell phone. Todays cell phones even have emergency satellite access. Then the wacky behaviour of the wolves really does it. We deserved better Missy. I will go watch some Rookie Blue or Backcountry I guess.

So let us start this by stating the obvious, the moviie is deeply flawed, the characters are not the most likable, but that derives from the fact that they all have unsolved issues and past grudges with each other. Which makes most conversations and interactions feel a bit awkward but not implausible, it is expected from the whole first half where you get introduced to their stories.

The biggest complains i have read so far also focus on how unprepared they were, and to an extent i do agree with this, a car or a sat phone would be nice to have. But, they were hunting in an area where allegedly no wolves had been seen in decades. For the type of game they were expecting to find and hunt, small animals and deers they were more than well prepared. They had a hunting rifle with them also just in case. And than a pack of wolves shows up.

People have been suggesting they should have more guns and how easy it would be to scare the wolves away or kill them..and that my friends is a stupid claim from someone who knows nothing about wolves..after a member of the pack is injured, they will hunt you down relentlessly, wolves are amongst the smartest animals on this planet. They are organized, they will use guerrila tactics to scare you, and mess with your head while simultaneously hunting you. They know the woods they live in, and they will use it against you. They wont stop until you are dead, or all of them are. They are vengeful, and territorial. 1 shotgun or 10 shotguns wouldnt have made a difference. So in that sense i have to strongly disagree with most of the commentd because the movie depicts better than most how dangerous and scary wolves really are. This wasnt about hunger or fear, this was personal. And wolves are known to be personal.

The viscerality and realistic gore of the whole thing, is well worth more than 3 or 4 points.

Like i said, it aint no masterpiece, the story is very one dimensional and the characters are somewhat unlikable. But as far as wolves movies go, this one is one of the best depictions of their true natures..
