Plot summary

Lines between romantic ideals and control become blurred when Tanya's husband can no longer handle the stress of his career as a police officer. His warm kisses turn cold, and she is left fighting for her life. At the same time, Elizabeth's idyllic life is marred when her charming husband manipulates her into believing that she is going insane. As Elizabeth counsels Tanya, she realizes the signs of abuse in her own marriage. When both women decide to leave, they realize it isn't going to go as smoothly as they'd planned. The escape they seek, turns deadly.

Confused at the 10* ratings

Ok. It actually angered me in many ways this movie... The male leads are real SOB's. Couldn't stand the pasture - or his father for that matter.The acting really wasn't all that great. It actually reminded me of high school drama in places... especially the pastures wife during a certain scene. (I won't spoil it though).I did feel for the female leads mostly - which I'm sure most viewers would agree given the topic of the film - and the male leads acted their roles well enough for me to hate their characters too, so I guess that's something...I don't understand all the 10* reviews tbh. 5 at most from me but the message behind the film opens people's eyes to this sort of behaviour.

A man in his 50s that likes this movie...

So I know people always think men like a particular kind of movie. This film doesn't fall into those stereotypical categories. My wife made me watch it with her. I didn't want to but happy wife, happy life, right? I watched it and I think 15 minutes or so into the movie, I was hooked and I stayed that way until the end. I did not see the ending coming. My wife said my math was open. I usually pick the movies, but this one earned her another pick.
