Another Stupid People doing stupid stuff

Someday, just maybe someday these writers will be able to formulate a script that doesn't rely on stupid people doing incredibly stupid stuff to pad the run time. This isn't one of those scripts, and I am to the point of going back to literature as a means of after work entertainment. It's like in the world of movies that common sense or at least practical thinking are a big fat No No. So we are stuck with stupid people constantly doing outrageously stupid stuff. Add the unbelievable convenient next plot device falling into place that are suppose to be chance meetings. Those faked forced love interest with zero chemistry and the antagonist ability to teleport wherever the protagonist may have fled to. And these Hallmark style movies are the worst perpetrator of these offenses.I lucked up on a review that saved my eyes and brain from the eventual torment that I would have endured. And I am passing the warning on to others so that they can bypass this and move on to something more enlightening, like watching paint dry, doing laundry or just chilling with a Mango Margarita.

Not a bad TV movie at all

Fleeing her abusive ex, Jess (Skye Coyne) hires a boat to take her across Lake Superior to Canada. When the boat sinks, Jess is rescued by a reclusive lighthouse keeper Adaline (Shelli Manzoline). But as she is nursed back to health, Jess realizes she's fallen into another trap. The film is shot very much in TV style but don't let that put you off. People used to cinema might find it odd, but remember, it's the story that matters. It's actually not badly shot. Sometimes the lighting isn't great but the sound was always top grade. The acting wasn't to bad either from the two female leads. I'd never heard of Skye Coyne before but she has piqued my interest by really leaning into the role of Jess and putting in a more than good performance. In terms of direction there were some tense moments, but nothing where you'd fall off your seat or grit your teeth, nevertheless you find yourself mentally preparing for extreme stress several times.I think a 5 is a very fair rating, and I really want to watch anything else Skye Coyne has done.
