excelent movie

May be the story is a little bit unbelievable , but the play of the 2 main characters are really incredible. Is like a miracle the way the director lead such a dramatic story to the end. I note 8 , but is 8,5.

A GUARDIAN TO ONE...!

A South Korean feature from 2018 (which owes a lot to the Gena Rowlands 1980 starrer Gloria). Miss Baek, essayed by Han Ji-min, works diligently at her menial jobs to get by (we see her working at a car wash later as a masseuse) but one cold day she meets up w/a shivering tyke, Kim Si-a, who she feeds & brings back to her home even though she suspects she's being abused which turns out to be case as her nominal parents (her stay at home biological father smacks her around deferring to his hostess girlfriend to dictate Si-a's mistreatment) are pieces of trash trying to avoid any attention from the authorities. When arriving home one night, Ji-min runs into Si-a climbing out from her apartment window & rushes her to the hospital to see to her wounds but when her guardians come upon the scene they soon try to flip public attention on Ji-min signaling her as a kidnapper which works except for Ji-min's boyfriend, a detective, suspects otherwise who inserts himself into the investigation where the truth comes out. Although Ji-min gives a wonderful heartfelt performance (especially when we learn she too was an abused child, hence her interest), the mechanics of the plot sometimes feel haphazard & specious w/a scene between Ji-min giving appropriate punishment to Si-a's abusers (we do get a scene between Ji-min & the hostess but it comes off a bit clunky) to solidify the audiences full sway.
