I loved watching it, yet I am sad

So good it could have been a mini-series

This relatively short documentary is so powerful and well done that I don't feel it would have taken much more work to turn this into a 5-10 episode mini-series highlighting the contributions of women to music of all genres- Rhiannon Giddens gets the closest talking about the ancestral roots of the banjo and her songs but it would be so cool to see this become a warning pool for many into the waters of ethnomusicology. It could have gone back to Hildegard von Bingen and Clara Schumann where just being a female music composer was something of a revolutionary act. This potential doesn't take away from how good it is, and maybe that's the point- it left me wanting more, which when talking about political power and change, is hopefully the point.
