Alisson Guerrero is the beautiful young woman who magically appears one day out of a lake where the local men barely make a living as fishermen.
Nereida(Guerrero) is captivating and is the only reason to watch this plodding feature from Ecuador, although the gorgeous scenery helps as the acting is not exactly at a high level.
A landowner has been cheating the fishermen and plotting to take over the lake for some unexplained purpose. A legendary mermaid is said to appear every one hundred years with a taste for delivering karmic justice to those in need of help.
In the end, Nereida turns into a superhero and we get a nice Hallmark kind of finish.
Plot summary
Legend has it that on July 7, each 100 years in "enchanted lake", a mysterious girl will test her charms to help the people of good heart and punish people corrupt.
