The killer umbrella...

I was not familiar with this 2023 Japanese short horror film prior to stumbling upon it here in 2025. And with it being an Asian horror movie, and my love of all things horror and Asian cinema, then of course I opted to check out what writer an director Kenji Yamamoto had to offer.The storyline in the movie was strange. And by strange, I am not saying bad, but it was certainly something else. It was an original story, so writer Kenji Yamamoto did manage to put together something unseen before, at least not seen by me before.I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list. The film does have a very small cast ensemble, but they performed well and carried the narrative nicely.The effects in the film were okay. It wasn't anything grand or overly impressive, but the effects served the narrative well enough.My rating of writer and director Kenji Yamamoto's 2023 short film "Karakasa" lands on a five out of ten stars.
