First work by Christopher Frank who,in spite of his name, is French ;a good screenwriter ,but his movies are a little undistinguished .He succeeds in his depiction of minor figures,the supporting actors: on stage they find it hard to get a full house ; when Miou-Miou is offered a part in a film made in Vichy ,her scene is so stupid we really feel sorry for her.Her relationship with Michel suffers accordingly.While making this abysmal movie ,Josepha meets Régis, a wealthy horse breeder with whom she has a love affair ,to take revenge on Michel who used to cheat on her with a press attache . All these scenes between Josepha,Régis and his grown daughter are pure soap opera and throw the film off balance ;hors-riding , life of luxury in a desirable mansion ,all this sounds Harlequin romance.The three principals (Miou-Miou, Bruno Crémer,Claude Brasseur) are talented actors but they are given poor material to work with.
