You won't regret watching the ending

I wanted to reply to the latest review on this movie as I'm appalled at how low the rating he gave I mean true the immitation of souls switching bodies don't offer much and is a bit weird to say the least but with the story built around this there's many hidden features in the movie that you'd have an amazing time watching On the opening: Usually this is where movies fumble a lot and I can't lie the opening already gave me a sense of boredom and confusion but still it's not the worst opening I've seen many other movies have a way worse experience in making the opening Middle: It gets even more weirder but when get to around the middle things are starting to get good as you start to have a grip on how everything is about the movie the chaos and the collapse of the father and daughter's lives and how they ruined it for each other very good way of picturing it if I'm honest Ending: I'd recommend you to skip the entire movie and just watch the last 40m of the movie as this is where everything is resolved the highest spark of the movie and genuinely just the best part of the movie you'd be having a time of your life with the movie My rating: 8/10 Pros: Show a meaningful bond with dad and daughterThe ending is extremely good and it's rlly the only part you should watch although if you want to have a grip of the story more then watch the entirety of middle don't watch the openingThe opening is better than most moviesCons: The body switch is a bit weird and unconventionalThe opening is still rlly confusing but still better than mostTLDR: Just watch the last 40m if you want to know more then watch the last 1h and 20m it's the best place to start.

More like boredom issues...

As I stumbled upon this 2018 Vietnamese comedy titled "Hon Papa Da Con Gái" (aka "Daddy Issue") here in 2023, I had actually never heard about it. But seeing that it was starring Thai Hoa, Vietnam's most funny comedy actor, and with it being an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I had to watch it.

And I must admit that I was harboring some expectations to the movie, given the track record of leading actor Thai Hoa.

However, writer Michael Thai managed to put together a weak imitation of the numerous other body-switch movies that came before this 2018 movie. So you're not in for anything new, innovative, or actually particularly entertaining here. In fact, the movie failed to capture my interest and I gave up on watching it out of sheer and utter boredom about halfway through. "Hon Papa Da Con Gái", from director Ken Ochiai, was a swing and a miss.

The acting performances in the movie were fair enough, though the actors and actresses had very little to work with in terms of script, adequate storyline or characters that actually mean something to the audience. So it was an uphill battle for the cast ensemble. It was a disappointing movie notched unto the acting career of Thai Hoa, but then again, not everything he touches can turn to gold, right?

I have zero intentions of ever returning to attempt to finish watching "Hon Papa Da Con Gái", as the movie utterly failed to entertain me. And it is definitely not a movie that I would recommend fans of the Asian cinema to waste their time, money or effort on. There are far better English language body-swap movies readily available out there.

My rating of "Hon Papa Da Con Gái" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars.
