Plot summary

Jenny's father passed away. The news shocked the entire family. At Jeruk Purut TPU, the funeral procession went smoothly without any problems, but something felt strange after they returned to their respective homes. Farah, Jenny's friend, felt like she was being followed by a supernatural being. She told Jenny and Reno about it, but they just thought it was a joke and didn't believe it. This distrust makes them have to accept the consequences. They are haunted! So how do they deal with this figure who keeps following them? Without knowing the real reason why they are being followed! Then, Airin who had disappeared for 10 years appeared right after one of them died! She's back, but why?

A FILM ABOUT THE TERROR OF A HEADLESS GHOST

Some moral messages that I get from this film :1. Give the recitation of the Qur'an or other good rewards to the person who has died.2. Every living creature will surely return to its Lord.3. Make death a reminder that human life on earth is not eternal but only temporary.4. Do not urinate carelessly or do anything that is not polite or indecent in a holy or sacred place.5. We may grieve or weep for the loss of a person who died, but we must not mourn him.6. There are 3 deeds whose reward will not be cut off even though we have died, namely alms Jariyah, useful knowledge, and prayers from pious children.7. We have to let go of the people we love, don't be too long in sadness, get up and be enthusiastic in living life ahead.8. Do not discriminate between your children, even though some of them are not your biological children but your stepson.9. The importance of having friends is that when you are sad or anxious, there are friends who are always there to accompany you and provide solutions to problems that befall you.10. Draw close to God to be protected from the temptations of Satan and possessions.11. Do not be afraid of ghosts or demons because you are more noble than them, Satan will only attack people whose faith is weak.12. Discussion is the fastest way to form an agreement.13. Ask for help from people who are experts or know in the field and expertise.14. Help someone who asks you for help, maybe they really need you and you are their only hope.15. Never use an amulet as an object of luck or as your helper, because it is a form of partnering with God and is considered an act of shirk which is a major sin.16. You should never play in a haunted or sacred place such as a cemetery and the like because it is very disrespectful and dangerous especially for the purpose of jokes.17. Don't like to pick up things on the street or anywhere you don't know who owns them, unless you want to help return them to their original owners.May be useful =)

This was pretty terrible...

While I had never heard about this 2017 Indonesian horror movie titled "Hantu Jeruk Purut Reborn", from direcor Nayato Fio Nuala, of course I opted to watch it on account of it being an Asian horror movie that I hadn't already seen.The storyline put together by writer Luvie Melati felt erratic and random. The narrative constantly jumped from one scene to another without any closure to the previous scene, and more often than not just blatantly ignored that something terrible had just befell one of the character as the character apparently also just shrugged it off or forgot about it immediately. I have to say that the storyline in the movie, as written by Luvie Melati, was laughably poor and ridiculous. It was one of the worst Indonesian horror movies I've stumbled upon.The dialogue in the movie was some of the most cringeworthy and poorly written dialogue I've stumbled upon in a long, long time. It just dumbed down the movie tremendously.The majority of the acting performances in the movie were fair, but the actress who played Airin was fully and wholly stripped of any acting talent. It was like watching a fish out of water on the screen. I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, and that was actually the one thing that spoke in favor of the movie.The effects in the movie were fair. Nothing outstanding, and there are far better special effects in many other Indonesian horror movies.This was, hands down, a pretty terrible movie. And most certainly not a movie that I would recommend for fans of the Asian horror cinema. Some of us literally suffered through this, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.My rating of director Nayato Fio Nuala's 2017 movie "Hantu Jeruk Purut Reborn" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.
