Black Diamond Review

A seductive screenplay that kept me captivated the entire film. The cast had a great chemistry and the Telluride backdrop stunning.I thought the casting was interesting. Each actor made their character their own. The scenery and home were beautiful choices for location.I thought the screenplay made some interesting choices. I thought the plot was going to go one way only to surprise me with a different direction.A very ambitious and valiant effort by director. I have watched several independent films. I know it is not easy getting them made. I would say this is one of the best!Congratulations to the cast and crew...

It's just OK

I watched the film. I can say that it is a fairly run-of-the-mill thriller about a love triangle, which is not unpleasant to watch, but does not stand out in any way. The narrative seems to be gripping, the plot is not bad, but someone may notice the small budget of the film. Almost all the events will take place in their home, and 90% of the screen time will be taken up by only 3 people. The film is stretched out by a huge amount of conversations. There are also bloopers, I laughed at the fake gun without a barrel, which was positioned as a real one, but the close-up ruined the "magic of the movie". In general, I do not regret watching it, the situation shown in the film may be interesting, but it is not the most interesting film in the world. 6 out of 10.

Not a bad B movie

Inscrutable young woman Elena (Inbar Lavi) arrives for an extended stay at her hedge-fund boyfriend Spencer's (Ray Panthaki) house atop the mountain in an elite ski town. But a misstep with a local cowboy handyman Jesse (Jake McLaughlin) shatters that idyllic life and turns it into a deadly triangle of lust, obsession and murder. The story is actually quite good if not new, and there was plenty of opportunity for tension, thrills and outright scares. It was of course let down by poor acting, directing and editing. But it's a B movie by inexperienced people so we can forgive that. The only really decent actor on set is Inbar Lavi who does a reasonable job of playing the hero-victim Elena. It's a shame that the very experienced Jake McLaughlin failed tos tep up to the mark, but I suspect that was poor direction. Like many actors, without strong direction they aren't very good. The film did get tense at times, and I felt that if the script were better there were more opportunities for more thrill and excitement. However there were too many slow and badly paced scenes that diluted the excitement. Also the ending was very predictable and weakly carried out but we all sort of wanted it, despite that Elena was the author of her own misfortune. Not an awful film at all and would make a perfect Sunday matinee. I ranked it 5.
