Plot summary

American Heretics: The Politics of the Gospel takes audiences into the buckle of Bible belt where a group of defiant ministers, congregations, and community leaders are challenging deeply rooted fundamentalist Christian doctrine in favor of a Gospel of Inclusion. Labeled as "heretics" for their beliefs and actions, they refuse to wield their faith as a sword sharpened by literal interpretations of the Bible. Especially those fundamentalist Christian interpretations that continue to justify nationalism and hack away at landmark civil rights protections for women, minorities, immigrants, and the LGBTQ communities.

Rising Unitarian Universalism

Universalism is almost as old as time. The idea that everyone will be welcomed into eternity regardless of . . . Really anything. The quantitative analysis of phony phacts they throw out regarding the history of Christianity and the Bible is a calculation that grows by the moment as this is viewed. Unless you hate the Bible and the Christianity that it conveys, this film is an absolute waste of time. The only other reason to watch it is to see what the enemies of God are selling. I don't necessarily mean the people in the film - they are just deceived . . . Unless they are not deceived and already know that they are serving Evil in their presentation of "another gospel." But remember what Paul said about "another gospel"?

Agree or disagree, the facts are the facts

The entire documentary can be summed up in the final twenty minutes. The events in Tulsa Massacre, explaining Oklahoma's racist history. That is what this documentary is talking about, the hypocrisy and the perversion of the Oklahoma political landscape mixed with extremist religious views to promote racist and ignorant policies from political and religious leaders.
