Plot summary

Lebanon, July 2006. War is raging between Hezbollah and Israel. During a 24h ceasefire, Marwan heads out in search of his father who refused to leave his Southern village. As the ceasefire is quickly broken, Marwan finds himself under the rain of bombs and takes shelter in a house with a group of elders. Suddenly, a group of Israeli soldiers enter the first floor. Trapped in the house and hostages of their own fears, the next three days will see the situation spiral out of control.

Captivating

An almost total closed session which captivates us throughout the film. The director would perhaps have benefited from using it a little more often, but this is nothing to really harm the dramatic plot of the work. We fully perceive the terror and dismay that civilians caught off guard by attacks in the middle of a war zone can feel, despite a supposed truce. The soundtrack is extremely effective. The director's choice to never really show the enemy, even when he is very close, is fully commendable, but the editing is rather questionable when it comes to more introspective scenes (but so few). Special mention for the lighting work which was executed to perfection.

Artistic delight

Small budget movie that packs a punch. Sound leaves you trembling. Remarkable director debut by Ahmad Ghossein. Bravo!
