An engrossing period crime thriller loosely based on true events

I enjoyed watching "Ach spij kochanie" (Oh, sleep, my love) for several reasons. First of all, for me, it was an exciting period crime thriller that kept me interested to the end. The film takes place in Krakow in the 1950s and is based on real events, which, in my opinion, gives the film additional value. At that time my parents were still in high school, but I know this period directly from family stories, and I would like to have an objective opinion about it. Poland was not a democracy at that time, but a communist dictatorship, and for me it is very interesting how the justice system of the Polish People's Republic functioned and changed over time. In my opinion, the film showed a fair picture of the 1950s in every aspect of life, which I always appreciate. The characters were not black and white, and the main character, Karski (Tomasz Schuchardt), had his weaknesses, and the serial killer, Wladyslaw Mazurkiewicz (Andrzej Chyra), was also shown as a man of flesh and blood. I really liked the acting, and the presence of so many outstanding and well-known actors is, for me, an additional value of "Oh, sleep, my love". To sum up, it was great entertainment that makes you reflect on life in the 1950s, in the communist dictatorship, and on human nature in general.
