Great watch for all baseball fans

50 Summers is a documentary that takes viewers behind the scenes of minor league baseball, specifically through the lens of the Omaha Storm Chasers. The film does a good job of highlighting the unique quirks and challenges of running a minor league team, from promotions to fan engagement, while also touching on the sport's evolution over the decades. The strongest aspect of the documentary is its passion for the game and the people who keep it running. Longtime fans of minor league baseball will appreciate the nostalgic look at the league's history and the insight into how teams survive in an ever-changing sports landscape. The interviews with players, staff, and media figures provide some interesting perspectives, though none of them are particularly groundbreaking.Where 50 Summers falls short is in its pacing and depth. The film struggles to maintain momentum, often feeling more like a collection of loosely connected segments rather than a cohesive narrative. While it offers a few compelling stories, it doesn't dig deep enough into any of them to make a lasting impact. Additionally, for casual baseball fans or those unfamiliar with minor league operations, the documentary may not be engaging enough to hold their attention.Overall, 50 Summers is a decent watch for baseball enthusiasts who enjoy behind-the-scenes sports documentaries. However, it lacks the emotional pull or fresh insights that could have made it a truly standout film. 6/10.

Bits of classic footage tucked between a lot of talking heads.

Will appeal to fans of small town minor league baseball, but as a sports doc, its a sleeper. A harmless local history piece that may convince a few to sit and watch a shorter version in an Omaha sports museum.
